Connecting to a Port |

To connect DataScope to a port, choose Connect from the Action menu. You'll then be asked to select the port you want to monitor: |

Select the name of the COM port you want to monitor. Remember, DataScope can only monitor ports that are on a ChiliPORTS card. When you click the OK button, monitoring of your chosen port will begin. As data is sent or received by the port, it will be displayed on your screen in green or red respectively. If the Details Window is not displayed, you can click Details in the menu to display it. Datascope maintains a 16KB buffer for send and receive data that you can review at any time. Select Pause from the Action menu (or press the space bar) to pause the display, then use the scroll bar in the window to scan back and forth through the buffer. When you're ready to resume live action, select Resume (or press the Enter key). By selecting Clear at any time, you can clear the transmit/receive data buffers, clear the data window, and reset the counters in the details window to zero. If you need to review more than 16KB of data at a time, you should create a Log File When you're finished monitoring a port, choose Disconnect from the Action menu. |
